Who We Are What We Do
The Church Gathered :: Bible Studies
We believe that God will build His Church with His Word. The greatest need Gods people have is to be in fellowship and communication with Him. The clearest and most objective way God speaks to us is through His Word. The goal of biblical discipleship is that "we all attain the unity of faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Eph. 4:13). We expect every member of CrossPoint to be connected in a Bible Study group.

Wednesday Night Home Groups
The purpose of a home group is to provide an opportunity for Christian relationships (koinonia) to develop within our congregation. Christian relationships are made through the bond of love we share with the Holy Spirit. Some home groups share a meal. All of the home groups spend some time in prayer and they all meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30om, unless otherwise noted.

Sunday Morning Bible Study

The focus of our Sunday Morning Bible Study is Biblical literacy. By 2011 there are ten Bible books that we will walk through as a community of believers. The books will be from both testaments and representative of different genres. Our desire is for disciples at CrossPoint to grow in the full counsel of God. In an attempt to encourage families to study the Word together, children, youth, and adults will examine the same portion of Scripture each Sunday. Parents will no longer wonder what their children are learning on Sundays because they will now have the chance to lead them the preceding week in that portion of Scripture. To date we have studied: Genesis, 1 Samuel, Acts, Philippians, Hebrews, Ephesians, Isaiah, Matthew, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, Philemon and James in our Bible study groups.

Currently we are studying the book of Psalms. Each group meets on Sunday at 9am. Click HERE to see the weekly schedule of our study.

Sunday Night Equipping Groups
The purpose of our Sunday Night Equipping Groups is to train members of CrossPoint in specific areas of discipleship. By 2011 our goal is to equip members in the areas of Theology, Missions/Evangelism, Church History, Apologetics, Biblical Languages, Spiritual Formation, Relationships, Parenting, and Teaching/Mentoring. Our desire is for these classes to be intergenerational with youth and adults so that each can profit from the other. In addition, the pastoral staff has a desire for CrossPoint disciples to encounter great works authored by believers throughout the history of the church. At times, different reading colloquiums will be offered in a year where members will be encouraged to read the same book and then meet and discuss it.

Fall 2010 Equipping Classes

Begin August 22 @ 5.45pm

*  Applied Christianity - Landon Dowden | Fellowship Hall
The focus of this class will be living the Gospel in Baton Rouge. We will be both on and off campus at times. The purpose will be to model disciple-making in the world and not just withdrawn from the world.

*  Spiritual Formation - Kevin Whitfield | Youth Dome
Longing for deeper intimacy with God? Walk through the Scriptures and classic devotional literature to learn about spiritual disciplines and deepening your walk with God.

*  Functions of the Faith - Byron Townsend | Grace Baptist Church
New to Christianity or having difficulty "connecting the dots" of the Christian faith? This class will teach a basic understanding of Christianity by addressing the functions of God's design. This class will be held off-campus at 630 Richland Drive, 70806 in Mid-city.

*  Overcoming Anxiety & Depression - Cynthia Townsend | CB 1 Room 1
As a result of living in a fallen world, all of us deal with trials, hardships and both universal and personal sin. This is a confidential, closed (no new class members or guests welcome once we have begun) group for all those willing to learn and share how we can battle these common issues such as anxiety and depression.

*  English as a Second Language (ESL) - Rick Robertson | CEB Floor 2
ESL is a ministry that provides English language literacy training on four levels free of charge to the community in a Christian environment. Curriculum is provided and all that is required is the ability to speak and read English (not the language of the group you are leading) and a desire to help others. We will provide all of the training you need.

*  Live Out Loud | Songs, Scripture, Serve - Kristi Campbell & Charlotte Stevens | CEB Floor 2

1st - 5th graders will participate in weekly musical worship and walk through the major bible stories. We will use "God's Big Picture" curriculum, beginning with the creation story in Genesis and ending with John's Revelation. Additionally, children will have mission opportunities to live out what they learn in God's Word.

*  Truth & Hope - Michelle Lulei | Worship Center
This is a ground-breaking class for CrossPoint. Due to an increased number of conversations with members and attenders we believe it will be helpful to outline a Biblical worldview and provide a Christ-centered support group for people who have family and/or friends in a same-sex relationship. This class can also serve as an introduction to God's design for sexuality and the issues surrounding homosexuality.
